Change is good.10.19.08

Unless it’s a change to something worse.

There’s really no way for this blog to straighten itself out at this point. It’s really been morphing into something else, and now H!P plans to graduate all of it’s elder members. Not gonna be all dramatic, but I started this talking about H!P stuff, then I figured I’d talk about other shit that I like, wondering if I can tie all of it together in a way that makes sense. Not easy, but without the elder members, I don’t think it’s possible at all. I was looking forward to talking more about HANGRY & ANGRY, which was something totally different, and just one example of what could be done with these older girls who (you can’t deny) mostly don’t do that much anymore, most of them. (Not their fault?) Hopefully they want to keep doing stuff and can do it elsewhere, like Kago.

Hey, Kago. There’s something else to talk about. I’m so distracted with stuff I can’t even write what I care about here. Just starting another one. I didn’t like the name anyway, and I think I’ve reached more of a style which I was really just working on developing before and it’s been a bit of a mess.

So, still for 2009, gonna work on other stuff. New start for me, new start for these girls. I think it’ll be good for everybody (except H!P). I didn’t really care about idols before Morning Musume, and no other groups have replaced them in my opinion. And with Momusu doing Pink Lady covers (which is…ok), and with Berryz doing remixes of covers (which are…kinda cool, but still) and with the my favorite group left in H!P being Buono, which Tsunku does not write for…I gotta say, it was a great ride Tsunks but you lost me. I’m gonna come back and do full reviews of all those Tsunku/MM albums I still think are classics and maybe we can all learn something. Maybe not, I’m doing it anyway. Next year.

In conclusion, Yossy is great.

Intermission vs. Blind Alley10.11.08

Ok, I took this post down for a second, I will bring it back when I get the next one done. There was a couple things I couldn’t figure out how to say and I just need to get my head together. This was a bad place to take a break cause I don’t want people picking over it and thinking I’m saying something I’m not in the meantime.

Now that I’ve ended that series, I’m not putting it back up. There were too many things where I was not happy with my wording or the whole thing I was saying. It was a meta-rant on some old stuff, but a few themes I will come back to on the new one. The point of this one wasn’t to clear up disagreements, but incorrect agreements, mostly to do with politics, religion, and whether or not I would have sex with Margaret Cho. Whenever I make general statements on any of these things, I get in trouble. When I make positive statements about them, it’s usually to counteract overly negative things I’ve said in the past. I think politics are about compromise, so all extreme parties and viewpoints are automatically wrong. Religion is what you believe in, and should have nothing to do with politics. It’s really become a political thing, and in practice what a person’s declared religion is usually has little to do with their actions. This also applies to the religion of Atheism. Atheists will cry out that they are just as moral as anyone else and shouldn’t be judged by their belief in lack of belief, but try turning it around on them. There’s plenty of example of people assumed to be Atheists because of their art/performance/sense of humor (Margaret Cho, for example, a Christian, or Tom Araya of Slayer, a Catholic). I think whatever lets you have a sense of humor about life is what’s important. I grew up being taught by some pretty mean Catholic nuns, now I don’t believe any of that, and I’ve got reasons beside. But I’ve met some Atheists who were just as big jerks about their beliefs. I don’t care what you believe. And every time I mention Buddhism people think I believe in reincarnation and I don’t. But I don’t care what people think I believe anymore either. I’m just not trying to trick anybody. And I’m not saying “can’t we all just get along?”, because the answer is “no”. But we could probably lighten up a bit. Maybe?
